Contractor Service Requirements Healthcare Interpreter

•  Minimum availability of 20 hours or more between regular business hours 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

•  Successful completion of a verbal medical terminology test and verbal interpreting examination in the target language.

•  Reliable personal automobile and valid CA driver's license, along with Automobile Liability Insurance Card.

•  Cellular phone.

•  Computer, Internet access, email address, scanner.

•  Current tuberculosis exam/clearance.

•  Signed Service Contract Agreement and W-9 Tax document, proof of permanent residency or U.S. Citizenship required .

•  Ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality regarding personal medical issues at all times.

•  Tact, diplomacy and a passionate concern to assist the Limited English Proficient.

•  Commitment to a continuing effort to improve, broaden and deepen Contractor's mastery of the vocabulary and technical terminology and phrasing of both English and the target language commonly used in the field.

•  Accuracy, honesty and diligence in downloading, completing and submitting Agency paperwork as required and ability to maintain in a safe and secure area storage of all hard copies of all service records for a minimum of 12 months.

•  Ability to access and understand Internet driving directions and maps and a good working knowledge of where local service areas are located.

•  Knowledge of anatomy, major body systems and medical terminology in at least two languages.

•  Interpreting, listening and memory skills sufficient to perform interpreting work accurately, completely, quickly and clearly with the greatest possible fidelity to the spirit and letter of the original communication.

•  Consistent punctuality in arriving at all interpreting assignments.=

•  Ability to maintain a professional demeanor, appropriate dress, and presence as required by an individual providing a high level of professional service.

•  Ability to sight translate into the target language complex medical documentation and complete medical forms and patient histories.
